Lady Gaga opted against the use of her moniker in Joker 2
Larry Sher, the director of photography for Joker 2: Madness for Two, disclosed that Lady Gaga disfavored being addressed by either her stage name or her birth name while filming for the movie, where she portrayed the enigmatic Harley Quinn.

The illustrious Lady Gaga has been wholly immersed in the production of her latest film 'Joker 2: Madness for Two', the sequel to the renowned Gotham antagonist portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, in which she portrays Harley Quinn. The filming has already concluded, and the movie is slated for release on October 4, 2024.

Recently, the pop sensation shared a missive with her followers, candidly discussing the various reasons that led to her absence from social networks, wherein she alluded to her arduous preparations for the film and articulated that the months spent filming were "an intensely introspective period" for her.

However, it appears that taking time for introspection and distancing herself from social media were not the sole measures the actress undertook to delve into her character's persona during the filming process.

Larry Sher, the director of photography for 'Joker 2: Folie à Deux,' made a revelation during an interview with The Trenches TV, expressing how he never truly felt acquainted with the actress, even during the makeup test phase.

"And then I remember for a week I was like, 'God, I feel like we were disconnecting, not even connecting. We're like opposites.'"

"I confided in my team, 'Goodness, I can't fathom it. I feel like she harbors animosity toward me, or perhaps we hold mutual animosity. Something peculiar is transpiring here,'" Sher remarked, referring to Gaga as Stefani until that point. It was at this juncture that a colleague suggested, "Oh, you know what? Stef would prefer you address her as Lee on set."

Subsequently, when Larry began referring to her as Lee, "it was as though everything underwent a metamorphosis." "From that point forward, our entire connection changed," Sher expounded.

As of now, the origins of the name Lee remain undisclosed, but it could very well be a moniker for her character in the film, Harley Quinn.
