The renowned actress has taken legal action against a paparazzi who surreptitiously captured revealing images of her from a considerable distance.
Jennifer Aniston, formerly associated with Brad Pitt, is demanding compensation and an embargo on the dissemination of the intrusive pictures.
In a lawsuit filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, Jennifer Aniston accuses the photographer Peter Brandt of flagrantly violating her privacy by employing a telephoto lens to capture her in compromising situations within the confines of her home.
The legal document contends that Brandt's photographs were obtained through invasive and illicit means, leaving no doubt about his malevolent intentions. Moreover, the actress, aged 36 and famously known for her role in NBC's "Friends," maintains that the photographs were taken in an area where she had a legitimate expectation of privacy.
Seeking both monetary damages and a restraining order against Brandt and any other potential profiteers of these images, Jennifer Aniston hopes to shield herself from further exploitation.
As of now, efforts to contact Brandt for comment have proven futile. However, it is noteworthy that prior to this incident, Jennifer Aniston had already faced a similar situation when she sued another photographer for allegedly scaling a 10-foot wall to surreptitiously capture topless photographs of her in her backyard, which subsequently made their way into various publications.
Two years ago, Francois Navarre, the proprietor of the Los Angeles-based paparazzi agency X-17, paid Aniston a hefty sum of $550,000 to settle a previous lawsuit that accused the agency of invading her privacy. It is essential to mention that this settlement did not involve any admission of guilt from Aniston's side.
The ongoing lawsuit assumes significance as the Los Angeles County attorney general's office is actively investigating the rising trend of aggressive celebrity photographers engaging in altercations to capture lucrative shots.
Notably, other prominent actresses like Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, and Lindsay Lohan have also expressed grievances regarding their encounters with relentless paparazzi in recent months.
