IMAX Premiere for Barbie Set in September Featuring Exclusive Scenes

Warner Bros. Pictures has unveiled exciting news for fans of 'Barbie.' The blockbuster hit starring Margot Robbie is scheduled for an exclusive IMAX release, taking place for a limited week-long run starting from September 22nd. This unique IMAX version will include never-before-seen footage, carefully selected by director Greta Gerwig.

In a heartfelt statement, Gerwig, aged 40, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming global enthusiasm that 'Barbie' has garnered since its initial release in July. She noted the support and engagement from Barbie fans worldwide, both in theaters and across various platforms, acknowledging their contribution to the film's success.

"Creating 'Barbie' for the big screen has been an incredible journey, and now, the opportunity to showcase it on IMAX, the grandest screen of all, fills us with excitement," shared Gerwig. "As a special gesture to our devoted Barbie enthusiasts, we're thrilled to present additional exclusive content that offers a deeper look into the remarkable work of our cast and crew. We hope audiences will relish these additions."

Initially, 'Barbie' didn't enjoy an IMAX presence in most U.S. theaters due to its simultaneous release with Christopher Nolan's film 'Oppenheimer,' which led to a phenomenon playfully termed 'Barbenheimer' by fans. 'Oppenheimer' set new IMAX attendance records.

As of now, 'Barbie' has achieved a remarkable milestone, crossing the $1 billion mark in worldwide box office revenue. Furthermore, it recently outpaced the 2008 film 'The Dark Knight,' emerging as Warner Bros.' highest-earning domestic release in history.

The film's impact extends beyond cinema halls, with Ryan Gosling's song "I'm Just Ken" making an entry into the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 87 earlier this month.

'Barbie' secured the top position at the domestic box office for four consecutive weekends post its release. 'Blue Beetle,' another Warner Bros. production, managed to dethrone 'Barbie' from its No. 1 slot after earning $25 million during the previous weekend.

Margot Robbie, aged 33, had previously revealed in an interview with Collider that she had confidently predicted 'Barbie' would surpass the $1 billion mark when pitching the movie to the studio, prior to the actors' strike.

"My pitch during the green-light meeting revolved around the idea that studios thrive when they daringly pair a visionary director with a groundbreaking concept," she stated at that time. "I mentioned, 'Now you have Barbie and Greta Gerwig.' I may have overestimated slightly by predicting a billion-dollar success, but we were dedicated to making an extraordinary film."

'Barbie' is presently showing in theaters and continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
