In an emotional Instagram post, the 27-year-old actress disclosed encountering a man following her father's passing in January 2023, recounting the trauma inflicted by his relentless cycle of physical and mental abuse.
Initiating her poignant statement with a trigger warning, Ruby began, "What occurs behind closed doors? No one's child should endure this. My father's passing left my mother absent, an easy target, it seems."
She recounted the distressing encounter, narrating, "I met a man at a pub. It was just after my Dad's funeral. I hosted a gathering at my place. He stayed back to assist with the cleanup."
The actress delved into the alarming details, revealing, "It all commenced there. Gradually, this man resorted to throwing objects at me, threatening physical harm, forcibly restraining me while pressing into my personal space, and spitting on me. I stood by the bath, pleading for respite from grief and mental anguish, conversing with my oldest friend on the phone, while he subjected me to further degradation."
While refraining from disclosing the identity of her abusive former partner, Ruby continued, "I endured nights speaking with the Samaritans, and the Police made visits to ensure my safety."
Despite not pursuing legal action against her unnamed abuser, Ruby shared, "Refuge aided me in recognizing the pattern of abuse. He's aware. I'm aware. And now, so are you."
